This scheme is designed as a street to an existing street elevation and as a square as an organising principle to the rear. The houses are clustered in an effort to condense the morphology and bulk of the proposal, and to offer their neighbour an element of buffering in terms of physical insulation. We have designed the scheme to consolidate the parking, while still ensuring each house has parking in very close proximity to the front door. This gives priority to the pedestrian and to public open space. We visited Castle Park in Kinsale, and spoke to the original architect, as a study precedent at early design stage.
